Richard Rogers is University Professor and holds the Chair in New Media & Digital Culture at the University of Amsterdam. He is Director of Govcom.org , the group responsible for the Issue Crawler and other info-political tools, and the Digital Methods Initiative, reworking method for Internet research. Among other works, Rogers is author of Information Politics on the Web (MIT Press, 2004), awarded the 2005 best book of the year by the American Society of Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T). His latest book, Digital Methods, is to be published by MIT Press.

Henry Jenkins is Provost’s Professor of Communication, Journalism, and Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. He has written and edited more than a dozen books on media and popular culture. He is co-author, with Sam Ford and Joshua Green, of Spreadable Media: Creating Value and Meaning in a Networked Society (forthcoming 2012) and author of Convergence Culture: Where Old and New Media Collide (2006). His other published works reflect the wide range of his research interests, touching on democracy and new media, the “wow factor” of popular culture, science-fiction fan communities, and the early history of film comedy. As one of the first media scholars to chart the changing role of the audience in an environment of increasingly pervasive digital content, Jenkins has been at the forefront of understanding the effects of participatory media on society, politics, and culture. His research gives key insights to the success of social-networking Web sites, networked computer games, online fan communities, and other advocacy organizations, as well as emerging news media outlets. Prior to joining USC, Jenkins spent nearly two decades at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as the Peter de Florez Professor in the Humanities. While there, he directed MIT’s Comparative Media Studies graduate degree program from 1999-2009, setting an innovative research agenda during a time of fundamental change in communication, journalism, and entertainment.

Cary Bazalgette worked at the British Film Institute from 1979 to 2007, having previously been a teacher of English and filmmaking in London secondary schools. She has written and edited a number of classroom resources for media education and has published and spoken widely on this topic in the UK and around the world. She was Head of BFI Education from 1999-2006, leading the BFI’s commitment to developing new approaches to teaching and learning about the moving image media, particularly for the 3-14 age group, and gaining a higher profile for this area of education at national policy level. Following 18 months as the BFI’s Education Policy Adviser and as General Secretary of the 8-nation Steering Group for the European Charter for Media Literacy, she worked as a freelance researcher, writer and consultant specializing in media literacy and in children’s media, and chaired the Media Education Association. She is now undertaking doctoral research at the Institute of Education, London, on pre-school children’s encounters with moving-image media. She lives in North London and has two children and three grandchildren.

Ab 2005 Professor für Erziehungswissenschaft und Medienpädagogik an der Universität Mainz. 2006 bis 2010 Wissenschaftlicher Direktor der Stiftung Lesen in Mainz. Zur Zeit Dekan des Fachbereichs Sozialwissenschaften, Medien und Sport an der Universität Mainz. Mitglied der Media Literacy Expert Group des Directorats Media bei der EU-Kommission in Brüssel.

Volker Pantenburg und Stefanie Schlüter, Weimar/Berlin
Stefanie Schlüter arbeitet als Filmvermittlerin im Schnittfeld von Kino, Museum, Schule und Hochschule. Neben zahlreichen Lehrerfortbildungen (u.a. im Österreichischen Filmmuseum, Wien) führt sie Filmworkshops mit FilmemacherInnen, Kindern und Jugendlichen durch. Sie vermittelt derzeit vor allem Experimental- und Avantgarde-Filme – etwa im Projekt „Kinder haben die Wahl“ (Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen) und „Living Archive“ (Arsenal – Institut für Film und Videokunst, Berlin). Außerdem ist sie Stipendiatin des Internationalen Graduiertenkollegs InterArt an der Freien Universität Berlin.
Volker Pantenburg, Dr. phil., ist Juniorprofessor für Bildtheorie mit dem Schwerpunkt Bewegtbildforschung an der Fakultät Medien der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar und Juniordirektor am dortigen „Internationalen Kolleg für Kulturtechnikforschung und Medienphilosophie“. 2008 und 2009 arbeitete er im Projekt „Kunst der Vermittlung. Aus den Archiven des Filmvermittelnden Films“. Buchveröffentlichungen u.a.: „Film als Theorie. Bildforschung bei Harun Farocki und Jean-Luc Godard“ (2006), „Ränder des Kinos.
